The Next Step
Description
In 1954, the Advisory Council for the Northern Virginia Center was formed to advise the University on the operation of the center and to explore possibilities of its expansion to a branch of the University of Virginia. Due to a change in rules regarding credit transfers by the SACSS, the Center would need a permanent facility, full faculty, and genuine connection with the parent institution to transfer 2 years of study. Many people put forth efforts to lead efforts toward securing support for the University with the Virgina State Senate as well as the General Assembly for their vote in favor of continuing the project and vision.
