Description
The Battle of Ream’s Station ended after dark on the evening of August 25th, 1864. The nearly two thousand Union prisoners captured in the battle were kept in a field near the battlefield behind Confederate lines that night. The next morning, they began the march to prison in Richmond. Coming from the Howlett line, Private Solomon Crist also marched to Richmond.
