Description
Drs. Lee Potter, Joseph Harrison, Fanny-Fern Davis, and Linda Grant DePauw announce their resignations from George Mason College. Dr. Reid hired in October 1963, was tasked with transitioning George Mason from a two-year institution into a four-year degree-granting college and eventually an independent university.
While Dr. Reid's title was Director of George Mason College, he also temporarily served as temporary Dean of the College, Dean of Students, Director of Admissions, and Business Manager, with few support staff during his first two semesters. In the semester of 65' relationship between Dr. Reid, the staff and students weakened.
Faculty became agitated by Dr. Reid's lack of attendance to meetings, arrogance, and lack of respect for students, faculty, and staff. Students took issue to forced dress code requirements, with students being escorted out of classes for not following regulations. Staff believed he lacked communication skills. Dr. Reid's credentials were also questioned in how he may have misrepresented his credentials to University Officials for recruitment.
Dr. Reid resigned in March 1966
